From December 2014 the Prof. Eng Francesco Ossola was appointed Special Chief Executive Officer for the extraordinary and temporary management of the Consorzio Venezia Nuova, dealer of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport – Venice Water Authority, for the realization of projects aimed at the preservation of the Venice lagoon, its inhabitants and the priceless historical, artistic and environmental.

MOSE (Experimental Electromechanical Module) is a project intended to protect the city of Venice, Italy, and the Venetian Lagoon from flooding. The project is an integrated system consisting of rows of mobile gates installed at three inlets that are able to temporarily isolate the Venetian Lagoon from the Adriatic Sea during high tides, together with other measures such as coastal reinforcement, the raising of quaysides, and the paving and improvement of the lagoon. The “Consorzio Venezia Nuova” is responsible for the work on behalf of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport – Venice Water Authority.
