OBSLEIGH LUGE AND SKELETON’ OLYMPIC TRACK

First track in the world for bobsleigh, luge and skeleton equipped with a “U-Beam” structure, due to its construction in a particularly complex site in terms of geological, hydrological and environmental aspects.

It was built in Cesana for the Turin 2006 Winter Olympic Games, the track subsequently hosted the Bobsleigh World Cup in 2009 and 2011, and the World Luge Championships in 2011.

The almost 1.5km track is characterized by 19 curves, and extends over a height difference of 144m starting at 1683m. 50 tons of ammonia were required to form and maintain the ice.

The knowledge acquired by Studio Ossola was subsequently made available to Olympstroy for the construction of the track in Sochi, for the 2014 Olympics, in Russia.
