ALDI (acronym for ALbrecht-DIscount) is a German multinational active in the large-scale retail trade sector, and is one of the leading companies in the world in its sector.
In 2015, Aldi Süd’s Austrian subsidiary, Hofer, expanded into the Italian market in Italy, with its administrative base in Verona, and opened its first 10 stores simultaneously on 1 March 2018.
They were followed by further openings in northern Italy, reaching 154 points of sale in 2023.
